Google made several announcements, including the release of PaLM 2, which powers Bard, and Workspace integrating AI into Sheets, Slides, and Meets. ChatGPT-style responses will appear at the top of search results, and Gmail will use AI to assist with email writing. Other new features include Sidekick, Codey, AI-powered wallpapers, an immersive view in Maps, Magic editor, Magic compose, Vertex AI models, Gemini LLM, a labs page for testing experiments, face tracking with AR kit, and a system to mark AI-generated content to credit artists. It's a lot to digest, but you can check out the official recap from Google themselves by clicking on the link in the title above.
Microsoft is reportedly teaming up with chipmaker AMD to develop AI processors to compete against Nvidia, which has an ~80% share of the AI processor market.
Palantir’s stock saw a 21% surge after reporting a strong earnings forecast and very high demand for their new AI tool we covered a few issues back. The company posted a surprise profit in Q1 and expects to remain profitable for the rest of 2023, which would be their first profitable year. CEO Alex Karp emphasized the company's focus on AI during a video call with analysts, saying that their strategy is to dominate the entire market.
