Did OpenAI acquire AI.com?

Plus: How Stable Diffusion Works

Good Morning AI Runners 🏃‍♂️

Here's what we've got for you today:

  • Did OpenAI acquire AI.com?

  • How Stable Diffusion Works

  • Predicting The Weather Forecast With AI

It looks like OpenAI might have bought the domain AI.com. When you go to the website, it redirects to ChatGPT. Saw.com, a company that helps sell domains, announced on twitter that they had sold the domain over a year ago, but they haven't said who it was or how much it was sold for. Based on similar sales of short domains, we can guess the price was around $10-15 million. The owners who were selling AI.com in 2021 were asking for $11 million. Back in 2016, the domain used to be an AI blog, which we found on the Wayback Machine. We still don't know who the previous owner/seller was though.

The real images island is used as a comparison to help people better understand the process of Stable Diffusion. The U-NET is there to help guide you on this journey, taking you from a sea of distorted or unclear images to a clear and sharp final result.

MetNet-2, a deep learning model developed by Google, has been recently released and is capable of predicting rainfall up to 12 hours in advance. According to the paper linked above, this new model surpasses current weather forecast models, which rely on physics-based simulations.
