Plus: Meta Announces LLaMA

Good Morning AI Runners 🏃‍♂️

Here's what we've got for you today:

  • Meta Announces LLaMA

  • Nvidia's Stock Gained $79 Billion in a Single Day

  • Meta has released a new LLM called LLaMA.

  • LLaMA only uses publicly available data, outperforms GPT-3 on most benchmarks, and is ~x10 smaller.

  • LLaMA is a group of different-sized models, trained on 1 trillion tokens, ranging in size from 7 billion to 65 billion parameters.

  • It will help experts tease out the problems of AI language models, including bias, toxicity, and their tendency to make up information.

  • Meta hopes that LLaMA will be more versatile than GPT-3 and help to improve the robustness of large language models.

  • It is available under a noncommercial license focused on research use cases for academic researchers, government, civil society and academic organizations, and industry research laboratories (which means its truly Open.... AI).

  • You can request access by visiting the official website linked in the title above.

Nvidia did way better than expected in q4, and their stock soared a whopping 15% on Thursday, which added $79 billion to their market cap (currently at $571 Billion).

During the earnings call, the CEO, Jensen Huang, talked about how excited he is about artificial intelligence and how it's gonna be great for their business. Huang said they're working hard to make the most of AI, which is "capturing the imaginations of millions of people worldwide". He also said that there have been some significant tech breakthroughs that have brought AI to a turning point and that companies all over the world are in a race to incorporate generative language models into their businesses.
