BuzzFeed Stock Rises Following Announcement of AI Content
The latest news coming out of BuzzFeed HQ - they're bringing in the big guns (or should I say, the big AI) to "write, enhance, and personalize" all their content. Their stock surged after the announcement memo.
According to BuzzFeed CEO Jonah Peretti, this is one of the two trends that will define the future of digital media. The other is, of course, creative humans who provide all the good ideas, cultural currency, and inspired prompts.
But what does this mean for you, the reader? Well this example was mentioned in other news outlets but not the memo: get ready for some super personalized content, like personalized rom-com pitches. You answer a few questions about yourself like "Name an endearing flaw" or "Choose a favorite trope from a rom-com" and BAM, you get a personalized rom-com pitch just for you. Idk how useful that would be but it’s only an example of the many things BuzzFeed are trying to utilize AI with. Peretti also mentions in the memo that he will share a preview of the content in February, so we'll see how it turns out.
And they're not the only ones getting in on the AI game. Just ask CNET, who recently got criticized for not disclosing their use of AI to write articles. They've since stopped using AI tools and claim to have discovered errors and plagiarism in more than half the articles written using ChatGPT or other AI tools.
But seriously, who still consumes BuzzFeed content in 2023 🤔
Text to music by Google
Google has just announced the release of their new AI model, MusicLM, which can generate music based on a clear description.
MusicLM can basically turn words into melodies. And according to Google researchers, MusicLM generates music at 24 kHz that remains consistent over several minutes, and outperforms previous Google algorithms both in audio quality and adherence to the text description.
