Leaked: Microsoft's AI-Powered Bing
Plus: Google Begins Testing ChatGPT competitor "Apprentice Bard"
Good Morning AI Runners 🏃♂️
Here's what we've got for you today:
Google Testing "Apprentice Bard"
Microsoft's AI-Powered Bing leaked
Googlers have been busy testing a brand-new AI chatbot called "Apprentice Bard". Just like ChatGPT, Bard is designed to respond to questions using natural language.
Bard is built using Google's LaMDA technology, which is similar to the GPT-series that ChatGPT relies on.
What sets Bard apart from ChatGPT is its ability to talk about recent events. As you know, ChatGPT has a "Limited knowledge of world and events after 2021", but Bard is more up-to-date and can even answer questions about Google's recent layoffs.
It looks like Microsoft is integrating a ChatGPT-powered AI chatbot into its search engine, Bing.
According to reports, Bing users (yes, they exist) spotted a mysterious new AI-assisted version of the search engine briefly appearing earlier this week.
Owen Yin (tweet linked below) was one of the lucky few to get a sneak peek and he shared some details and screenshots in a thread on twitter.
From what we can tell, the chatbot can answer questions, ask them in a conversational manner, and even cite its sources (which ChatGPT itself doesn't do yet) The new Bing UI even has a "chat" option in the menu bar next to "search" and a welcome message that says, "Your AI-powered answer engine."
Bing's ChatGPT integration just appeared for me. Replaces the search bar with a composer for natural-language questions
