Developer Hacks OpenAI’s GPT-4 API and Offers it for Free 👹
UK Gov't Commits £100M to Developing BritGPT 🇬🇧
A developer, xtekky, has been making waves on GitHub with their latest project, GPT4Free, which offers "free access" to popular AI models such as OpenAI’s GPT-4 and GPT-3.5. The project blatantly ignores OpenAI’s terms of service and most probably infringes on their intellectual property rights. Despite the questionable legality, GPT4Free has gained popularity after being shared on Reddit. Xtekky claims the project initially started as a challenge for their reverse engineering skills, but it has evolved into a way to provide access to GPT-4 and GPT-3.5 for those who can’t afford it.
With Google's DeepMind team based in London, the UK already has a foothold in AI, but now they want more. They are creating BritGPT with an initial investment of £100 million (about $124.5 million) to create a Foundation Model Taskforce to help make the country a leader in AI tech. The task force will report directly to the Prime Minister and Tech Secretary too 😅
