Plus: Google puts PaLM in your hands

Good Morning AI Runners 🏃‍♂️

Here's what we've got for you today:

  • Google puts PaLM in your hands

  • AI takes over at Microsoft: ethics and society team out of a job

  • 🛠Cool AI Tool: GitHub Profile Summarizer

  • Stanford's Alpaca 7B Model Takes on AI Heavyweight Text-Davinci-003

Google is releasing an API for its PaLM language model, allowing developers and businesses to create customized chatbots and other AI applications. Google is also launching a new app alongside the PaLM API called MakerSuite. “With MakerSuite, you’ll be able to iterate on prompts, augment your dataset with synthetic data, and easily tune custom models”.

It looks like Microsoft has decided that ethics and society are no longer important considerations in the development of AI tools. The company has given the boot to its team responsible for educating employees on the responsible use of AI, all in the name of ramping up their product offerings. Based move not gonna lie.

This tool summarizes GitHub users' profiles. You type in the GitHub Profile URL and get this summary back:

Researchers at Stanford University created a new language model called Stanford-Alpaca 7B. The researchers conducted a small study where they rated the output of both models and found that the Alpaca 7B model was just as good as the larger "text-davinci-003" model from OpenAI.
