Why AI Won't Cause Unemployment π©πΌβπ»
Neuralink's plans to turn humans into cyborgs rejected by FDA π§
Stability AI, the company behind Stable Diffusion, has reached unicorn status after securing a funding round in late 2022. And now, it's on the hunt for even more moolah, seeking to raise funds at a valuation of about $4 billion. However, the exact amount of capital they are aiming to raise is still a mystery, and the decision to go ahead with the financing is not final. So, let's see if Stability can secure the bag and maybe I'll ask Emad himself to confirm (not to brag but he did react to a tweet of mine yesterday!)

In his recent Substack post, Marc Andreessen of a16z argues against the idea that AI will lead to widespread unemployment. He points out that fears of technology replacing human labor have existed for centuries, yet jobs and wages have continued to rise in capitalist economies. Andreessen suggests that the progress of AI will be blocked by the fact that it is already illegal for most of the economy, and will soon be illegal for virtually all of it.
The FDA has put a stop sign on Elon Musk's Neuralink plans to test their brain-computer interface technology in humans due to valid concerns about safety. And honestly, I can see why - the implant could potentially move around in your brain, overheat, or even explode. Yikes. And to make matters worse, taking it out could cause some serious brain damage.
